One Tradition of Service
The Oklahoma All-Academies' Military Ball is held every December to recognize outstanding Oklahoma men and women attending the five U.S. military academies while home on leave relaxing from their rigorous academic and military school year. Below are some facts about our outstanding academies.
UNITED STATES
AIR FORCE ACADEMY
USAFA
Colorado Springs, CO
4-year Bachelor of Science degree program. Mission: to forge leaders of character, motivated to a lifetime of service, and developed to lead our Air Force and Space Force as we fight and win our Nation’s wars. Total enrollment is about 4000 cadets; approximately 50 cadets are from Oklahoma. Commitment: Upon graduation, cadets are commissioned as Air Force officers and serve a 5-year active duty and 3-year reserve commitment; navigators 7 years, pilots 10 years. Notable Graduates – 403 General Officers; 38 astronauts; Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, Coach Gregg Popovich, and
Olympic Gold Medalist Alonzo Babers.

NAVAL ACADEMY
USNA
Annapolis, MD
4-year Bachelor of Science degree program. Mission: to develop midshipmen morally, mentally and physically and to imbue them with the highest ideals of duty, honor and loyalty. Total enrollment about 4500 midshipmen; about 40 midshipmen from Oklahoma. Commitment: Upon graduation, midshipmen are commissioned Naval officers and serve a minimum of 5 years active duty. Notable Graduates – President Jimmy Carter, Senator John McCain.

MILITARY ACADEMY
USMA
West Point, NY
4-year Bachelor of Science degree program. Mission: to educate, train, and inspire the Corps of Cadets so that each graduate is a commissioned leader of character committed to Duty, Honor, Country, and prepared for a career of professional excellence and service to the Nation as an officer in the United States Army. Total enrollment about 4400 cadets; more than 50 cadets from Oklahoma. Commitment: Upon graduation, cadets are commissioned as Army officers and serve a 5-year active duty and 3-year reserve commitment in the US Army. Notable Graduates – Generals Grant, Lee, MacArthur, Eisenhower, Buzz Aldrin and 17 other astronauts.

COAST GUARD ACADEMY
USCGA
New London, CT
4-year Bachelor of Science degree program. Mission: committed to strengthening the nation’s future by educating, training and developing leaders of character who are ethically, intellectually, professionally and physically prepared. Total enrollment approximately 900 cadets. Commitment: Upon graduation, midshipmen are commissioned as officers and serve in a reserve component of the U.S. Armed Forces.
UNITED STATES MERCHANT MARINE ACADEMY
USMMA
Kings Point, NY
4-year Bachelor of Science degree program. Mission: to educate and graduate professional officers and leaders of honor and integrity who serve the economic and defense interests of the United States. Total enrollment about 940 midshipmen. Commitment: Upon graduation, midshipmen are commissioned as officers and serve in a reserve component of the U.S. Armed Forces.
